well, it's been a week today since Sugar went home to her Daddy. I feel very good about it. However, I am really wishing I had a sweet baby to cuddle right now. I wouldn't even care if he wanted to be up all night, promise. I would love to help with medically fragile babies, not everyone can, and I feel like I have some good background to bring to the table. I helped a little swinging/pacing foster babies as a young teen, later I was an EMT, a Nanny, my own son spent time in the NICU... I really want to make a little difference.

can foster care be this easy?

Sugar has been here for two days now and has been an absolute sweetheart. She sleeps well, eats well and loves to play, brush her teeth and take baths. She has obviously been well cared for. I hope that this turns out to just be a case of wrong place at the wrong time and that Sugar can go home to her Daddy soon.

Sugar and spice

I got a call this afternoon for an 11 month old little girl needing a foster family. I said yes to the placement and picked her up at about 7 o'clock tonight from the assessment center. She is so beautiful and so sweet. She was tired and a little scared when I took her from the nurse, but was interested when I said "let's go bye-bye". She was happy to go in the car seat when I pulled a new lovey blanket from my diaper bag. I'm so glad that I bought it a few weeks ago in anticipation of just this kind of night. She hugged it and dozed on the hour long ride home. She was a bit overwhelmed by the four new siblings she found waiting for her there though. But they were all nice and quiet and just said a quick hello before everyone headed off to bed. I showed her around her room and we looked at a book and rocked while she snuggled up and sang herself to sleep, still gripping her lovey. I feel so honored and blessed to be able to love and care for this sweet baby girl.
